STRS Ohio Medical Plans Cover Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Diagnostic Testing

If you are enrolled in the STRS Ohio Aetna Medicare Plan and you need to get tested for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), fees will be waived for diagnostic testing ordered by a physician and sent to a lab. (This applies to in-network providers only.) The associated physician office or emergency room visit is subject to the applicable cost-sharing amounts.

If you are enrolled in the STRS Ohio Aetna Basic Plan and you need to get tested for COVID-19, the test and associated physician office or emergency room visit are covered at the applicable cost-sharing amounts. (Fees are not waived for diagnostic testing or lab services.)

Under both medical plans, if an enrollee is diagnosed with COVID-19, all subsequent services would be covered under current year medical plan provisions and subject to the applicable deductible, copayments and coninsurance.
